Jon Christian conducts research in legislative studies and administrative law, with particular focus on education law and welfare law. He holds a PhD in law from the University of Oslo and an LL.M. from New York University. He has extensive experience from law commissions, including as Chair of the Education Act Commission (NOU 2019: 23 New Education Act) and as a member of the Kindergarten Act Commission (NOU 2012: 1). Nordrum also has a background from the Ministry of Justice’s Legislative Department, where he worked, among other areas, with school and education law. Anna obtained her PhD in Sociology of Law at Lund University in 2008, with the thesis Working with children as victims of crime. She is a coordinator of the Child Rights Institute (CRI) at Lund University. Her research focuses on how professionals working with children are affected by and relate to factors such as legislation, organisational culture and resources, and how this influences the implementation of children’s rights in practice. Her research areas include children’s rights in custody cases, children’s and young people’s experiences of legal processes, and safety-promoting work in schools. She is also co-editor of the book Building a Sustainable Society Through Child Participation.

Laura Lundy is a Professor of Law at University College Cork and Honorary Professor of Education Law and Children’s Rights at Queen’s University Belfast. She is a barrister at law and was Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Children’s Rights (2018-2025). Her expertise is in law and human rights, with a particular focus on children’s right to participate in decision-making, education rights, and the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in law and policy. Her 2007 paper, “‘Voice’ is not enough”, is one of the most highly cited academic papers on children’s rights and introduced the widely used Lundy Model of participation.

Henk Spies is a Professor at Avans University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. His work focuses on method development and practical knowledge in social services, particularly for “hard to reach” groups and in crime prevention. He works with approaches such as action research, action learning and learning networks to bridge gaps between policy, practice and knowledge. He is co-initiator of Mind the Gap Academy, which focuses on developing effective interventions in the social domain.
